Work Camp on Women Empowerment and Culture

16 enthusiastic volunteers arrived in India from Hong Kong to participate in FSL-India’s Work Camp on Women Empowerment and Culture. They spent 4 days in Bangalore and learned about Women Empowerment in India. They also participated in teaching and painting activities.

On Day 1 of the camp, the team visited Maharani`s Arts, Commerce and Management College for Women and had a group discussion with the students about Women Empowerment. They also visited the college campus along with the college’s lecturers and learned about the various educational programmes provided at the college.

 

In the afternoon, they visited the NGO Vidyanikethan to learn about the organisation and the support provided to women to improve their life status.

 

On Days 2 and 3, the team spent time at Need Base India (Boys), where the boys and volunteers participated in teaching, craft activities and also painted educational murals on the school wall.

On Day 4, FSL-India’s Work Camp team leader organised a cultural visit. The volunteers got the opportunity to visit the famous ISKON temple and Shivajinagar market and experienced the Indian cultural lifestyle.

Overall, our volunteers had a very good time during this short 4-day day work cam. They contributed their bit towards the betterment of society and at the same time, learned about Indian culture.
