Work Camps
A group of 7 Volunteers with 6 International and 1 National Volunteer took part in the UNESCO WHV program 2015 staged at Mahabalipuram near Chennai. Mahabalipuram is recognized as the world heritage centre by UNESCO as the town consists of the famous architectural remains of the late 728 A.D which ruled by Pallava Dynasty.
This work camp took place in Kundapur from 10th to 22nd of August 2015 and we developed activities related to sustainable agriculture, kids and culture.
A total 8 volunteers with 3 Indian volunteers in Hampi cleaned the surrounding areas Veerabadhra temple. The volunteers also took part teaching activities in the government primary school,they taught the importance nature conservation and sustainable development to the children with the help of 2 teachers.
The volunteers led by the team leader, Arkesh worked with Badodaya Basti government secondary school. The school has more than 180 children and the camp mainly focused on ” Environment / Kids/ Culture”.
Theme: Tibetan Culture/ Environment/Construction In this workcamp, we had 14 international volunteers. Our team leader aided the volunteers to achieve their satisfaction and fulfillment that they seek through volunteerism. The volunteers actively took part in various activities in the Bagsu government primary school, the activities are compound wall plastering and toilet plastering, school wall painting, cleaning the school ground and leveling the school play ground. The volunteers worked with poor children of the Shri Sumer girls middle school, Jodhpur.The school has more than 60 students but due to severe winter this year, the volunteers had to work with about 20students.
Work camp department organized 2 days special work camp for work camp team leaders on 22nd and 23rd of May 2015 with collaboration of HBP team.
The Kundapur workcamp held from 13th to 22nd April at Kundapur training center on sustainable agriculture theme. 1 volunteer from Belgium was participated. The camp in Goa was conducted from 9th to 22nd Feb 2015. The volunteers are from france , Costa Rica, Italy & south Korea took part in this kids/ culture/ festival theme based camp .
During the month of December 2014, two of our work camp team leaders; Rajesh and Arkesh, led an organic farming and environment themed work camp in Pondicherry. Attending this work camp were three volunteers from two different countries; the French and Germany. The work camp participants collaborated with the Shristi foundation in a mushroom cultivation activity during which the volunteers learned about the process of vermicompost and Indian method of farming.
