      February month’s long-term volunteers get-together (GTG) took place at Kodachadri Hills, in the Shimoga district of Karnataka. Facilitating the GTG were five staff members of our Kundapura office. Happy Move Camp 2014

      Our 12th Happy Move Camp (HMC) 2014 kick started on the 16th of January and lasted till the 27th of January. Collaborating with us was Better World, South Korea, Hyundai Motor Company (South Korea) and Hyundai Motor Company (India).       The HMC was run in two phases across villages in the Kanchipuram District of Tamil Nadu. 130 volunteers joined us for the first phase, and 131 volunteers joined us for the second phase.         On the 20th and 21st of January, 2014, our Home Based Project team in Kundapura initiated a certificate distribution activity as a token of recognition for participants of our “debris free ocean” beach clean-up which took place on the 21st of September 2013. The clean-up activity had collected 13 tonnes of waste and had mobilized around 600 volunteers from schools, colleges, the fishermen community, youth clubs, self-help groups, Rotary members and more.        …

The Power of Volunteering

It is said actions speak louder than words.  On September 21, the joint endeavors of close to 600 local and international volunteers lay testament to this old adage. We came together to be a part of the world’s largest volunteering initiative to clean up waterways and the ocean: the International Coastal Cleanup. Our concerted efforts resulted in 11 tons of trash being collected in 1 day over 26 km of Karnataka’s coastline*.
