Summer Camp at Basrur

“We Love Basrur Summer Camp” were the enchanting words of the children repeatedly echoed during the Summer Camp at Basrur. The Summer Camp was organised by the international volunteers and HBP staff of FSL India. It was organised between 30th March and 5th April 2012. Five international volunteers (Anna Lena, Caro, Lisa, Lukas and Niko) and six HBP team of FSL India (Anusha, Basavaraj, Deepak, Dinesh, Manjula and Manjunath) facilitated the Summer Camp. Totally 35 school going children from 4th to 7th standard participated in the Summer Camp.

 

During the Camp FSL India team organized varieties of activities and facilitated lessons for the children on environment and health issues such as healthy food, human water cycle, nature and medicine.  Games and teaching handicrafts were included as well. Painting T-shirts with stamps made of potato was one of the major highlights of the summer camp. Session on “Intercultural Learning” was very interesting for children as they learnt Germany a little bit. Rangoli competition and the environmental quiz were also conducted. On the last day of the Camp, skit on environment issues, dance, song and mimicry were performed by children. Indeed the children enjoyed every bit of moment.
