STC Drawing Competition at Govt Schools, Kundapur

STC Drawing Competition at Govt Schools, Kundapur

On 21ST January 2019, FSL-India’s volunteers Melina and Emil and the Sea Turtle Conservation Contact Person Venkatesh visited the Primary School at Maravanthe.

We had made a presentation on the hazards faced by the sea turtles in the month of December.

The children were now participating in a drawing competition to recall the knowledge they gained from the presentation. Within the Sea Turtle Conservation project, the volunteers brought some drawing sheets and colour pencils for all the children and rewards for the winners of the competition.

As the competition was only conducted with 7th Std children, their assignment was to draw the dangers for the sea turtles from the other marine life. After 1 ½ hours, the children finished their drawings, so the volunteers could collect and judge the images.

It was a hard decision for the FSL-India team to decide which 2 pictures were the best. But, with the given criteria such as drawing skills, colour settings, creativity and the implementation of the given topic, they chose 2 winners. The first place received a geometrical set and the second place was honoured with a sketch book.  The students will also participate in a clay competition in the following weeks.

Two days later, on the 23rd, the Sea Turtle Conservation Project was extended by a new volunteer named Victoria. She conducted a drawing competition at Kota Padukere School for 5th – 7th Stds. The students drew wonderful turtle pictures and were rewarded for the best pictures.

The next day, the FSL-India volunteers went to the Bejjadi Moodu School. It is a small Government Primary School, with not so many children. As on the day before, the volunteers split up the 4th, 5th and 7th Stds. The 4th and 5th standards drew sea turtles and the 7th standard drew sketches on the dangers to the sea turtles. The volunteers collected the children’s work and selected the 2 best drawings  in both classes.
