My experience in Mysore Dasara !!
From the 10th to 13th of October I visited Mysore, a big city in the south of Karnataka. I was amazed by this crowded mega city and touristic destination, in contrast to the small-town of Kundapur, where I used to live and work for one year. The reason for my trip with the sleeper train was Dasara.
At this festival the victory of truth over evil is celebrated because it’s the day when the Hindu Goddess Chamundeshwari killed the demon Mahishasura
In the evening many streets are illuminated and also the Palace of Mysore, which is very impressive at day already, is decorated with thousands of light bulbs. It looks wonderful. One evening I went all the way up to Chamundi Hill with some other volunteers. From the top we enjoyed a beautiful view over the bright city. On the Last day, there’s a big parade with many artists and even elephants walking from the palace through the city’s streets. It was really amazing to see the busy and colorful city.
