Medicinal garden plantation at Centre for Experiential Living, Kundapur
For the last few days, many people have been engaging in medicinal garden work. At the beginning of June, Spanish students and German volunteers came and helped the FSL team to clean the area, do the weeding and level the ground.
At the end of June, we started with the plantation of Noni (mulberry) by Felix, who planted the first plant because it was his birthday that day!
Overall, in this medicinal garden plantation work, everyone learnt how to technically plant saplings.
Why is medicine garden plantation important? Medicine garden plantation has been done at CEL to help the community people. If we teach them the benefits of medicinal plants, we will help them to prevent some diseases of the community members. Moreover, it will help poor families of the community as maintenance is easy, very low cost and most of the plants are available locally!
We have planted different medicinal plants, such as lemon grass, pomegranate, tulasi, chakramuni (vitamin plant), kumkum (crocus), turmeric, aloe vera and so on! The plants and trees are still very young but now, during the rainy season, we expect them to grow very fast!
Thank you everyone who helped us to make this medicinal garden become real!
