LTV Orientation – June 2013

June Orientation 1Kundapur : 2 volunteers – Julie Schneider from JR, France and Céline Moquet from SJ, France reached Kundapur on 3rd of June to participate in an orientation seminar before they started their projects. As there were only 2 volunteers, the Orientation week was held from 3rd to the 5th of June.

The volunteers were picked up from the Meeting point by a staff of FSL India and the day started with the traditional Indian welcome with Vermillion Tilak, Arati with lighted lamps, and Garlanding with Jasmine flowers.

The sessions conducted during the Orientation were : Kannada language, introduction about FSL-India, project introduction and reporting, Indian life style,  project introduction, concept of volunteerism, roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders of LTV program, setting up aims and objectives conflict management. The Highlights of this orientation was – The Temple visit, shopping at a local market and during the project visit at Koni School, Kundapur the volunteers participated in the World Environment Day Program held at the school.

June Orientation 2Bangalore : From 3rd to 7th of June, 11 International volunteers – El Melhem Jessica, Sidibe Mamadou, Nicholas Naïnemoutou and Brendon Novel from SVI, Belgium, Quentin Vajou, Lucas BUFFARD, FOURNIER Quentin and Gwendoline Beurel from JR, France, Francesca Pollastro from YAP-Italy, Montse Feliu from Ninarwa, Spain,

The sessions of this orientation were the usual’s – Introduction about FSL India, project introduction and reporting, project visit, voluntarism and roles & responsibilities of all the stakeholders of LTV program, Kannada and Tamil Language, setting up aims, conflict management, Indian Pedagogy and different indicators of culture. The highlights of this Orientation were – drawing Mehendi on palms and feet, visit to the bull temple, Indian cinema, country presentation through song, dance and amazing facts about their countries by the volunteers.

The Orientation that lasts for a week came to an end on 7th of June, with feedback and experience sharing by the volunteers. The volunteers expressed that the atmosphere during the orientation was good, they felt very welcomed, the different sessions on Indian culture and lifestyle,  Voluntarism, Project, Indian Pedagogy gave them confidence and useful information for their voluntary service and living in India.
