I’m in India!!! -Moritz Niklas Baisch.

Hi, my name is Moritz and I am in India(FSL-India) since August 2016.I am living in Bangalore and working there for a NGO with the name “Sparsha Trust“, which has several shelters and facilities for children in different areas Bangalore.

The first four months of my stay here in India I lived with another volunteer from Germany in a new institution called „Nisarga Grama“. It is surrounded by beautiful nature and provides different possibilities for the children of Sparsha. The life there was very interesting and nice, because the children accepted us very fast and provided us during the following festival season also a deep insight into Indian culture. From September onwards, I started working in a free course for needy youths between 18 and 25 years. One course lasts four months and I am teaching there spoken English. The classes are not only for the students interesting and challenging, also for me. It takes a while until they can understand the different accent even I can teach them only in English. It is a great win-win situation: I can learn from them about their daily life and traditions and they can learn something about the life in European countries and Germany.

After four months I shifted from the shelter for children to a host family. This decision gives me still another and deeper few into the way of life, especially from a different angle. To spend still time with the children from Nisarga Grama, I try to be there as often as possible on the weekends and the time there has got much more value for me. All in all, the first half of my time here in India was very interesting and various. I experienced the life in a children´s home and also in a host family. I am looking forward to the following months and I am curious how it is going to be.

Thanks FSL India and AFS Germany to make this all possible!
