Drama at Kundapur

Drama at Kundapur

On Saturday, 24th November 2018, FSL-India’s volunteers – Emil, Anna, Linda, Nanami, and our staff Manjunath and Venkatesh attended an anti-plastic event at Kundapur. The programme was conducted by the Flora & Fauna Club-Kundapur, Dr NR Acharya Memorial Trust Koteshwara, and Kudremukha Wild Life Division, Karkal.

Initially, the volunteers created a drama about plastic and its problems by themselves, but then they met a man who was invited to our Centre for Experiential Living to show his own sketch and his costumes. The volunteers were so impressed, they decided to show his story because it highlighted the problems caused by plastic very well.

2 days before the event, everyone practised the drama and also choreographed a dance. On the 24th, the FSL-India staff met early in the morning to practice the sketch multiple times. They also rehearsed the whole sketch with costumes for the first time. Then, they went by bus to Kundapur. As it was lunch time, they also ate at the place where they performed.

Afterwards, everyone dressed up and some also put on make-up to support their role. Venkatesh taught the children a song about the environment and then, it was time for the big performance.  Everyone was a little nervous, but in the end, everyone did a great job and enjoyed acting out their parts.

For their excellent sketch, and also for their acting, the FSL-India staff received a trophy. It was fun for everyone and we are looking forward to create more awareness about plastic in the future.
