Rescued Turtle Eggs Hatch – 2nd May 2019, Times of India, Mangaluru

On 20th March 2019, 101 Sea Turtle eggs were discovered by alert fishermen at Maravanthe beach. Working with the Forest Department, FSL-India’s team built a hatchery for the eggs and waited eagerly for the eggs to hatch. The eggs normally take 50-55 days to hatch, but this time, the baby turtles emerged from the eggs 10 days early, surprising the the watching and waiting community. In March 2019, we started to refill used plastic bottles with plastic trash. The previous volunteers from the Environmental Education (EE) Project already began the project of building one bench with eco bricks.
