Wall Painting Project – “Who runs the World? GIRLS!” – Kyra Trific, Germany

I am Kyra from Germany. I am currently working in an orphanage called “Free Basics Girls Home” which is located in Bangalore. My main tasks here are teaching basic English, playing and dancing with the children and supervising them. It is very heart-warming to me, to have such a beautiful connection with them, and to empower them in who they are.

Of course, the idea to paint exactly this phrase on the wall, came to me while I was listening to “Run The World” by Beyonce… I wanted to create something that remains –  something to remember each and every one of the girls, so I added every girl’s hand print to my plan, and the next day I started creating some drafts.

Afterwards, I bought some paint and brushes and two days later, the wall was colourful and represented a message I wanted to spread in this home and in general, in India. No matter how much time will pass, their names will always be remembered even if they’re adults being independent and successful – I will remember their little hands always.

The girls had so much fun while doing this creative project with me!! And I am happy to show the results.
