I like to see something different a lot – Amelie Hagemann, Germany

I like to see something different a lot – Amelie Hagemann, Germany

By now, I am 5 months in India. The orientation week in the beginning, at the FSL Centre, was very good to get to know some Indian habits, but in the light version. I also met some other volunteers who would work in the same area as me, so I did not feel alone at all. In my project – Regular Teaching at Moodugiliyaru School, is a second volunteer, Luise. She already was there 1 month earlier, so I immediately…

So, during my course period, I had worked in various institutions in India who are working with differently abled people, where I have gained a lot of learning and have understood their lifestyle and the  difficulties they face in their day-to-day life. I have…

My first 100th Monkey Session – Asha Elisha, Public Relations & Documentation, FSL India

My first 100th Monkey Session – Asha Elisha, Public Relations & Documentation, FSL India

Having heard so much about FSL India’s 100th Monkey programme, I decided to visit St Theresa’s School, and experience first-hand the ‘workings’ of our programme. I set off with Madhuri, and picked up Madhumathi (FSL India’s facilitators at Bangalore) along the way. My first impression when I walked into the classroom was a sea of smiling faces. The children were excited to see me (a new face always generates interest) and a babel of voices broke out. “Namaste, Madam”, “Good…

Mural painting at ‘Nirvana’ Beach Festival

Mural painting at ‘Nirvana’ Beach Festival

We are going to the beach! On a regular workday… no wonder all the other volunteers are jealous of HBP volunteers’ work. It is a great variety of tasks in our projects. Currently, 2 of the 4 HBP-projects at CEL are occupied and we, as the 5 international volunteers mostly give sessions on our topics in government primary schools. But that’s not all… today we are heading for something different. The first Nirvana beach festival at Kodi beach walk is…

Why I Love Volunteering – Notes from France: Puviarasan Sivarajan, Outbound volunteer

Why I Love Volunteering – Notes from France: Puviarasan Sivarajan, Outbound volunteer

Even as one half of me was struggling to describe my experience at France, my other half was constantly enjoying the memories and skimming through photos, contemplating what I have learnt and gone through those beautiful 2 weeks. France and Paris – what could one possibly think when we hear those words – love, romance, life and lifestyle. The experience at France completely filled my expectations of a developed country. But more importantly, it helped me to de-condition myself at…
