Greetings to you. We have great pleasure to pen this brief article regarding the volunteers you have been placing in our projects. Really we are very happy to entertain them in our project.

Volunteers are very much helpful in our hostel setup as they engage the children in their free time for various activities like games, dance, drawing and craft works, etc. They move with the children very closely like their elder brothers and children also are very free with them in sharing their personal feelings, needs and opinions. Most of the times they are much access to the children. Volunteers help the children in contacting them personally and ask about the sickness they suffer and bringing the issue to the attention of the authorities. They also help us in taking the children to hospital. In their routine schedule they watch the children that whether they are having regular bath daily, washing their clothes, wearing uniform properly, and guide them to do so. Their role in administration level is also very much appreciated, as they help in doing official correspondence, helping in buying and carrying vegetables from shops/markets, etc.

Their interaction with the children and the surrounding community is more beneficial for themselves also in knowing the culture, traditions, local festivals and celebrations of various set ups of families in the community. They see around the places nearby and get to know the historical or social background of the same.

 Sometimes language may be the barrier in making use of their opportunity but it may  overcome by their own interest. Sometimes some prejudice may hinder them to share their own ideas with us, but it also can be clarified with open discussion. Sometimes, their color makes a difference to mix with the children and the community. This too may overcome by developing good rapport between each others.

Totally we may come to the conclusion that placing volunteers is  really helpful to us as well as for them also to gain knowledge, understanding the different culture, local situation of the project, language and lifestyle of the people.
