In the month of January, our work camp team leader, Deepak Poojary, led a sea-turtle conservation and environment themed work camp in Kundapura. Our 12th Happy Move Camp (HMC) 2014 kick started on the 16th of January and lasted till the 27th of January. Collaborating with us was Better World, South Korea, Hyundai Motor Company (South Korea) and Hyundai Motor Company (India). Every year, the long-term volunteering team at FSL-India hosts its annual Host Family and Contact Person Workshops across South India. This year, the workshops took place seven zones; Hunsur, Bangalore, Pondicherry, Chennai, Kundapur, Mulky and Sirsi during the month of January. January month’s long-term volunteer’s get-together (GTG) took place on the 16th and 17th at the beautiful Kawari Palm Grove Resort in Murudeshwar, North Canara District. On the 20th and 21st of January, 2014, our Home Based Project team in Kundapura initiated a certificate distribution activity as a token of recognition for participants of our “debris free ocean” beach clean-up which took place on the 21st of September 2013. The clean-up activity had collected 13 tonnes of waste and had mobilized around 600 volunteers from schools, colleges, the fishermen community, youth clubs, self-help groups, Rotary members and more. …
On the 30th of December, 2013, Austin and Manjula from our Home Based Project team, along with other NGOs such as Namma Bhoomi and the Azim Premji Foundation, collaborated with the Marvanthe Panchayat to hold the annual Children’s Gram Sabha (children’s parliament) at V.K.
