Winter Camp at Sevalaya in Chennai

FSL-India organized Winter Camp at Sevalaya, Chennai for duration of two weeks from 9th to 19th October 2012. There were 18 German volunteers in the camp who participated in various activities such as construction of pathway from the entrance to main school building which is 140 meters. They painted 24 Black Boards at Sevalaya and drew pictures of vegetables, animals and flowers in three kindergartens.   Volunteers also participated in agriculture activities such as kitchen garden, banana plantation and cleaning…

LTV Get Together (October 2012)

LTV Get-together for the month of October for Kundapur and Bangalore Region was organised on 11th and 12th. It was organised at two different locations.  While Kundapur Region organised the GTG at The Kshitija Nature Resort Byndoor, Bangalore Region organised at Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra (VGKK) at B R Hills. Nine volunteers from Kundapur Region and six volunteers from Bangalore Region participated in in the get together.  The LTV team FSL-India facilitated the get-together.

In early October 2012, a total of 17 new volunteers from eight countries across the world (Germany – 6, Spain – 2, France – 2, Belgium – 3, Netherlands – 1, USA – 1, Finland – 1 and Austria -1) arrived for long-term volunteering service. Teachers and Children Honour FSL-India Volunteer

  India honours the teachers on 5th September every year. The Teachers’ Day celebration in Kundapur this year wore a special event. Miss Larissa Haesler, an FSL-India volunteer from Germany was honoured on Teachers’ Day by Woman and Children Development Society and Keeleshwari Youth Club for her volunteering service and teaching in Keeleshwari Kindergarten School.

Work Camp Updates (September 2012)

  Yoga / Ayurveda / Culture (Kerala – 10th to 30th September-2012)   Number of Volunteers: 7   Camp Activities: The highlights of the Camp were the rejuvenating Yoga classes and the enlightening Ayurveda Classes. These were held in the evenings. In the morning volunteers were engaged with the children activities at the Dayaniketan Orphanage at Bakkalam.

FSL-India Mainstream the Tent School Children

FSL-India has been running a Tent Schools in and around Kundapur under Home Based Project. Tent Schools were initiated with a view to catering to the educational needs of children from the migrant community who come to Kundapur in search of jobs and livelihood opportunities.  Many children from migrant community of Tamil Nadu working in Heskatturu village near Kundapur dropped out. However, the Tent School of FSL-India came as boon for them to continue their studies.

Rotaract club of Kundapur has invited workcamp volunteers on 15th Of July 2010. The volunteers from South Korea, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Switzerland, Germany, Spain and France were participated and presented their countries to all the participants.
