Environment Education session at “The English Academy”, Kundapur

On April 5th the Eco-team, visited “The English Academy” (TEA) in Kundapur. After a brief introduction of the facility, Mr. Pradeep, the man in-charge, held a session on environmental issues. Around 35 children participated in the program, interacting with the volunteers during their English class.

The Orientation week in April from 1st to the 5th of April saw 14 International volunteers. Among these 14, were 7 volunteers from AFS Germany, namely: Franziska Nathalie Aß, Jule Böhm, Katharina Huelscher, Niklas Veltmann, Christian Ronny Singer, Magda Below and Marle Kraft for a duration of 11 Months. Work camp experiences: March/April

Teaching rural children: work camp in March We recently hosted a work camp in Kodagu, a South Western District in the Indian State of Karnataka, where volunteers were involved in teaching close to 130 children in Milinda Vidhya Samsthe School, for Tribal community children various environment-related topics. This year, volunteers can be a part of up to 10 environmental projects initiated by FSL – India. Underpinning these initiatives is a strong focus on awareness raising, with volunteers reaching out to local, underdeveloped communities to highlight the socio-economic benefits of conserving their natural resources. Raising awareness, breaking cultural barriers, conserving sea turtles

For the first time in FSL –  India’s history, more than 250 participants, including children, teachers, local community members of Kundapur and FSL staff came together for an awareness raising initiative of a different kind. In March of 2013, we held a drawing competition to highlight the importance and challenges of conserving sea turtles for future generations. Children were given various themes and topics for illustration, such as, the dangers sea turtles face, their life cycle etc.

Bangalore : 7 Volunteers arrived on 4th of March and attended an orientation week until the 8th of March at the FSL India’s Head office in Bangalore. The participants were namely : Baukelien Vogelaar from Netherlands, Adila Berramdame, Mathieu Bossis, Julia REGOT from France, Clara Lacomini and Paul Levrez from Belgium and Anastasia-Areti GAVRILI from Greece.
