Coorg camp-February

Beginning of the year we conduct a camp at south India coffee land at Coorg, we were 4 people from South Korea and including our team leader. We had wonderful experience at coffee land, such as harvesting coffee, visiting various coffee land and study about coffee crop and how the process was happening, it was such a good experience to be a part of this work camp.

On 30th January -2016 FSL-India’s Kundapur team organized free Ayurvedic health Check-up & free medicines distribution camp for community at our Shetrakatte training centre with collaboration of Rotary club Kundapur South, Rotary community unit – Tallur, Mr. Janab M. Chareyabba Saheb – Mavinkatte, Dharmasthala rural development SHG federation – Mavinkatte and Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheswara ayurveda hospital Kutpadi. In this camp 237 community people from Mavinkatte, Karki, Gulvadi, Tallur, Shetrakatte, Kenchanur, Hattiangadi, Neralkatte enrolled and availed free medicines.

A Journey Back to the Villages… The group of 20 Korean students lived in Venkatagiri Kote, Devanahalli Taluk, Bangalore rural from 10th to 24th January, 2016 to experience the village life . By doing various activities such as, Renovating the water tank in the bathroom, fixing roof for the bath room, constructing hand washing sink, painting a class room, drawing pictures in the classroom, celebrating the harvesting festival by visiting families, interacting with local people, fire dance with locals etc, Playing sports with local youth, performing…

ITS NOT JUST VOLUNTEERING BUT A BUCKET LIST!- Sandeep

My journey to accomplish one of my bucket lists began when Rahul and Julien from FSL interviewed me for training and volunteering in Le Creneau, Solidarites Jeunnesses, France. I was present for the interview as if I was going to attend a board-meeting whereas the interviewers were dressed casually. This changed my perspective and made me understand that volunteering is serious work being casual. The interview was fun and went on pretty well.

“Hi! We have to repair the water tap, flatten the schoolyard, paint the walls and give some classes to the students!” These are the first words I heard from our Korean team leader as I arrived in Sengadu Primary school in the morning of 19th January. The next question was: “Have you ever done manual work before?” My honest answer: “No.”
