On 12th March 2019, Organisation for the Development of People (ODP), Mysore where I’m based as a volunteer, organised an amazing women’s day celebration. 3000 members of the women’s self-help groups supported by ODP were invited.
For the occasion, I also decided to wear a saree, a traditional Indian dress. Lucky thing I did, since as a surprise, I was invited on the stage with all the honorable guests and women activists. Everyone I met was very pleased that I had made the effort to follow Indian traditions on the dress code.
After the speeches from the guests came many dances and performances. My personal favourite was a performance that depicted improvement of women’s status and increase in opportunities for women in society throughout times.
The celebration was indeed truly amazing and I will always remember it.
