FSL India’s Volunteers’ safe Home Quarantine at CEL, in the midst of the Covid 19 crisis – Manjunath B, Field Officer & Manjesh BM, Centre Supervisor, FSL India

All across our regional zones, FSL India’s volunteers were enjoying their stay in India and their respective projects. Under these circumstances, many of our volunteers had gone travelling, to make the most of their holidays, when we heard about the COVID-19 virus and its implications.

As soon as we got this information from the State Health officials, keeping our volunteers’ safety and health in mind, FSL India requested all our volunteers to return to their respective projects. Our President, Rakesh Soans promptly got in touch with the District and Health authorities, who suggested that the volunteers’ should ‘Home Quarantine’ at our Centre for Experiential Living, Kundapur.

Assisted by the FSL India team, our volunteers got themselves screened at the local hospital and moved into CEL, in no time at all. As per the inputs and guidance of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, we followed their stringent guidelines while taking care of our volunteers at CEL. To make things easier all around, we provided a document with ‘Guidelines for Home Quarantine’ and also took our volunteers through the Guidelines in detail.

All the required guidelines and instructions were followed strictly during our volunteers’ Home Quarantine period, closely supervised by FSL India CEL’s well-trained staff. Finally, our volunteers completed their home quarantine successfully with zero infections, and they expressed their sincere appreciation to our staff. All of them returned to their countries with deep regret that they had to leave India and their projects at FSL India.
