{"id":7527,"date":"2014-06-18T15:46:09","date_gmt":"2014-06-18T10:16:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/?p=7527"},"modified":"2014-06-18T15:46:09","modified_gmt":"2014-06-18T10:16:09","slug":"the-journey-of-a-plastic-bag","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/the-journey-of-a-plastic-bag\/","title":{"rendered":"The Journey of a Plastic Bag"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Margaux, a <strong>long-term volunteer (LTV)<\/strong> working in Tamil Nadu writes to us about her experience during<strong> World Environment Day.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 &#8220;I am Ms. Margaux from France, volunteering in the <strong>Model Village Project (MVP)<\/strong>.\u00a0 On 5th June, the day began as &#8220;<strong>World Environment Day<\/strong>&#8220;.\u00a0 We (I and the <strong>FSL-India Chennai team<\/strong>) planned a puppetry session for the primary school children of the age group between 8 10 years in Panchayat Union Primary School, Thenneri, Kancheepuram District.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0We focused on the hazards of plastic polluting our environment and insisting the importance of throwing out our waste in a garbage bin. We made our puppets with old socks, papers, wool and wooden sticks.<a href=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/2014\/06\/the-journey-of-a-plastic-bag\/untitled-14\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7528\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7528\" alt=\"Untitled\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Untitled.png\" width=\"280\" height=\"216\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The story was about the <strong>Journey of a Plastic Bag<\/strong> which was carried away by the wind. During its travel it meets a snake, a turtle and a young girl. All these characters share their sadness with the plastic bag and tell him how the environment gets destroyed, causes of health problems due to pollution, water pollution etc. Then they all worry how their next generation is going to survive in the polluted environment peacefully and healthily. At the end, the plastic bag understands the<strong> importance of segregating waste and recycling<\/strong>. It meets the village chief, headmaster of the school to spread this message to the villagers and school children.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><a href=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/2014\/06\/the-journey-of-a-plastic-bag\/img_20140605_154153\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7529\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7529\" alt=\"IMG_20140605_154153\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/IMG_20140605_154153-225x300.jpg\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 It was really a great experience to hide behind the screen and express the dialogues through shaking the puppets on the screen. As I could not speak the local language Tamil very fluently, one of the <strong>FSL-India<\/strong> Team members gave me the voice behind the screen.
