\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The Training and Education Department of the Youth Development Programme at FSL-India is launching three new components starting now and for the times to come.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The YDP believes that significant learning takes place outside of the classroom<\/strong>, and that learning by doing is the best way towards growth and development. In that spirit, the three new additions to our programme are:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Skills Acquisition Workshops<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The monthly workshops hosted by the YDP will cover a wide range of topics. The objectives of these workshops will be to give participants an introduction or their first look into different ideas, concepts, skills or knowledges. The workshops may take the form of training, discussions, presentations, talks, 1 day projects, demonstrations etc. through experiential learning methods. The aim of these workshops is not to make participants experts on the topic, but rather to give them a chance to experience or learn something new (albeit beginner level) for a few hours. By having a monthly workshop on a wide range of topics, participants will be exposed to different things on a constant basis; broadening their perspectives, opening them up to new ideas, gaining new skills and aiding in holistic self-development<\/strong> as a whole.<\/span>
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The programme and agenda for the next semester will be published soon.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Field Learning Sessions<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Monthly field learning sessions will be carried out at various locations such as NGOs, other organisations in the social work field or projects. The objective of the field learning sessions is to introduce participants to different organisations and people working in the development field, and familiarise them to such social causes. By witnessing projects and meeting people working in the development field, participants will enhance their understanding of different problematics and see how organisations are working towards their evolution or resolution. In addition, these field learning sessions will encourage participants to get involved in working towards issues and causes close to their hearts.<\/span>
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 There will be a field learning session on the 14th of June to Sarakki Lake, where we will meet the members of Sarakki Lake Area Improvement Trust (SLAIT) and talk to them about the revival of Sarakki Lake, an important lake that is fast deteriorating. Long-term trainings<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Starting in the coming months will be two long-term trainings that will require long-term commitment by participants.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Community Development Project Management Training<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Sarakki Lake is an important lake for biodiversity reasons that is fast deteriorating in South Bangalore due to carelessness and lack of responsibility. The YDP will be running a project management training on this topic whereby participants will learn to organise and implement community development projects, by using Sarakki Lake as an example. We will be collaborating with the Sarakki Lake Area Improvement Trust in running this training. More information on this is on its way.<\/span><\/p>\n

Training for Trainers<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 For those interested in non-formal education, alternative education, experiential learning and training, the YDP will be launching a long-term training for trainers programme in which participants will be able to learn and develop training skills. Participants will be given a chance to run their own training sessions on various different topics also.
