{"id":5764,"date":"2012-12-20T11:38:33","date_gmt":"2012-12-20T06:08:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/?p=5764"},"modified":"2012-12-20T11:38:33","modified_gmt":"2012-12-20T06:08:33","slug":"ltv-get-together-november-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/ltv-get-together-november-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"LTV Get Together- November 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-5765\" title=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/GTG-12-300x180.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"180\" \/>LTV Get-together for the month of November <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">was organised on 15<sup>th<\/sup> and 16<sup>th<\/sup> at two different locations. <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">While Kundapur<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> Region<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> organised <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">at Eden Home Stay in Kumta, Karnataka, the Bangalore Region organised at YMCA, Yellagiri, Tamil Nadu. Altogether 25 volunteers from Kundapur Region and sixteen volunteers from Bangalore Region participated in the get together.\u00a0 The LTV team FSL-India facilitated the get-together.<!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Getting to know the progress on the inter-cultural learning and project activities assigned to each volunteer were the primary focus of the get-together. Project portrait, one-to-one talk with coordinators and skit presentation were also the major event during the two-day session. This opportunity gave the volunteers to share their experience with others on their project work, progress made and results achieved. They were also collectively engaged to find solutions to problems that they encounter in the projects, share the best practices of development work and get motivated for future work. During one-to one talk with the respective coordinators, volunteers discussed on the challenges they encountered in the projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In Kumta, Mr. Narayan S. Hegde, a guest lecturer addressed the<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> volunteers and explained about Kumta, the local culture, traditional food,<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> crop pattern and living style of people. He further explained on how marriage is solemnised and how the bride and bridegroom get to know each other, <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">rituals in marriage and how Mangalya, Sapthpadi, Oath and<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> Horoscope play<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> important role. Volunteers were excited to know about the new revelation in India culture. They asked numerous questions and clarifie<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">d their doubts about the Indian marriage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In Yellagir Mr. Bennet Benjamin, Founder Director of Centre <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-5766\" title=\"GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/GTG-21-300x211.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"211\" \/><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">for Rural Health and Social Education addressed the volunteers on the Perspective of Yellagiri and its Environment. The session started with self-introduction and the expectation on the session. Mr Bennet spoke about geography of the location, connection to local transportation, wild life, different species of trees, tourism etc. The session gave an overview about the locality and participants were greatly involved in the session.\u00a0 They also planted different varieties of flower, shadow and commercial plants at Centre for Rural Health and Social Education campus. Mr Bennet explained the features of different plants and later demonstrated the procedure of planting trees. Volunteers participated in digging the pits, planting trees and applying manure. The physical work was interesting for volunteers. Trekking on Stiff Mountain, was the pick experience which each volunteer enjoyed.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LTV Get-together for the month of November was organised on 15th and 16th at two different locations.
