The special attraction of the camp was the sessions on Ayurveda for volunteers. Sessions were conducted at the Parassini Kadava Ayurvedic College.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong><em>Inter-cultural Learning:<\/em><\/strong><strong> <\/strong>As part of the inter-cultural exposures, volunteers visited Muthappan Temple, and watched the <span class=\"GRcorrect\">Teyyam<\/span> dance. They learnt about Indian cooking during a visit to an Indian family and participated in country presentation. The other visits included the Snake Park, Toddy (local alcohol) collection <span class=\"GRcorrect\">centre<\/span> and Kallari Payat (Martial Arts) School.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/24.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-5045\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/24-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Tibetan Culture \/ Renovation (6th to 26th August \u2013 Dharamshala)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Number of Volunteers: 13<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Camp Activities:<\/strong> As part of the camp activities volunteer participated in school wall painting, construction and renovation work and <span class=\"GRcorrect\">organised<\/span> fun activities with the school children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"> <strong>Inter-culture Learning<\/strong> As part of inter-cultural learning volunteers spent a good deal of their time in interacting with Tibetan Monks. They also had <span class=\"GRcorrect\">Tibetan cooking session<\/span>, visited a Hindu temple and waterfalls, visit to <span class=\"GRcorrect\">Main Dalai Lama Temple<\/span> and museum, Tibetan Art Gallery and Carpet Factory. They enjoyed visiting <span class=\"GRcorrect\">Tibetan children village<\/span> and spent time in Four-day trekking <span class=\"GRcorrect\">at<\/span> the Himalayas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/72.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-5052\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/72-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"157\" \/><\/a>Tribal \/ Rural\/Environment (6th to 19th August \u2013Coorg, Karnataka)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Number of Participants: 17<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Camp Activities: <\/strong>In this camp volunteers cleaned School premises and did the educational painting. They also participated in teaching School kids, conducted some educational and fun activities with kids and held discussion with Indian teachers on education system in India.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Inter-culture Learning:<\/strong> As part of inter-cultural learning volunteers visited Hindu temples, participated in Country Presentation at the local school. They also paid a visit to Bylukuppe- Tibetan Monastery, Dubare and Elephant Camp.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/36.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-5053\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/36-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"157\" \/><\/a>Heritage Conservation \/ Awareness (6th to 19th August \u2013 Hampi)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Number of Participants: 19<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Heritage Conservation: <\/strong>A total nineteen volunteers in Hampi cleaned the surrounding areas Ganesh Temple. Importantly volunteers\u2019 work has been widely appreciated by the Archaeological Survey India. The camp also got wide media coverage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Awareness:<\/strong> With a view to create awareness on the importance of the heritage site, volunteers did the painting in <span class=\"GRcorrect\">local government school<\/span>. Volunteers conducted activities for the school children and facilitated <span class=\"GRcorrect\">session<\/span> for school children to create awareness and protect heritage monuments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Inter-culture Learning:<\/strong> Volunteers learnt cooking their dishes for the Host family and local volunteer. They also visited the temples in and around Hampi and Anegundi. The camp also arranged for a special visit to a Tribal Welfare <span class=\"GRcorrect\">centre<\/span> run by a French Couple at Kaddirampura.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-5054\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/6-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"157\" \/><\/a>Social \/Kids (20th August to 2nd September-Kundapura)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Number of Participants: 14<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Camp Activities: <\/strong>For conducting camp activities Govt. Higher Primary School, Moodu Gopady, Bijadi, and Govt. Primary School, Koni <span class=\"GRcorrect\">were selected<\/span> and volunteers were engaged in wall painting and educational drawing. In the afternoons they were engaged with children in \u201clearn with fun\u201d activities taught them English through fun games. The communicator Mrs. Vandana also visited the Camp and interacted with the volunteers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Inter-Cultural Learning: <\/strong>Monsoon continued its fury at Kundapur and volunteers had the chance to enjoy the \u201cIndian Monsoon\u201d. A local family hosted a grand Indian lunch for the volunteers. Other activities involved Henna application, Saree <span class=\"GRcorrect\">wrapping<\/span>, Hindu family visit, Indian cooking demonstration, local <span class=\"GRcorrect\">sight-seeing<\/span> visit to <span class=\"GRcorrect\">light house<\/span>, beach, Hindu temple etc. The volunteers also watched a \u2018<em>Sandalwood<\/em>\u2019 movie \u201cShiva\u201d in the theatre to get a taste of the local film!!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/42.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-5055\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/42-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"157\" \/><\/a>Social\/ Culture (13th to 26th August \u2013Mount Abu)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Number of Participants: 19<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Camp Activities: <\/strong>Volunteers cleaned the premises at NAB to prepare a kitchen garden. Volunteers also participated in <span class=\"GRcorrect\">wall painting<\/span> in school, tree plantation (25 saplings planted), peace march with visually challenged children. Volunteers also blindfolded themselves to feel how the children felt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Inter-culture Learning:<\/strong> As part of the inter-cultural exposure, volunteers visited Indian Family, <span class=\"GRcorrect\">interacted ion<\/span> with trainee teachers, local youth who <span class=\"GRcorrect\">catch<\/span> snakes and release them to forests. <span class=\"GRcorrect\">Volunteer<\/span> also participated in Independence Day celebration with school children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/52.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-5057\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/52-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"157\" \/><\/a>Health on Stage- (6th to 26th August -Bangalore \/ Mysore)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><em><strong>\u201cHealth on Stage\u201d<\/strong><\/em> is an initiative that intends to promote public health dialogue among community people on water and health issues using Forum Theater.\u00a0A total of 11 volunteers from Taiwan, Germany, Spain and France arrived in Mysore to share three weeks for Health <span class=\"GRcorrect\">on<\/span> Stage Program <span class=\"GRcorrect\">organised<\/span> by FSL-India. The volunteers who participated in the Health on Stage 2012 are: Loire Mathilde, Pauline <span class=\"GRcorrect\">de<\/span> Bortoli,\u00a0Marion K\u00f6nig, Antoine Retours, Jing Huei Huang, Llu\u00eds Martinez, Marie Acard, Katia Gianfermi, Clara Mu\u00f1oz Serd\u00e0, Caroline Seifert and Dominik Holdau. The group gave seven performances and more than 1000 spectators watched these in various locations of Mysore and Bangalore.
