\"115\"FSL India organises Work Camps throughout year with a view to increasing social, cultural, educational and environmental actions in the rural and urban areas. Both International and local volunteers participate in the Work Camps which offer opportunities to volunteers to learn local culture and values for life through cooperative actions and community services. During November and December, six Work Camps were conducted at various locations. Altogether 58 International Volunteers (26 in November and 28 December) participated in the Work Camps. Volunteers who participated in the Work Camps are from <\/span>Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Russia, South Korea, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, UK and USA. <\/span>Following are the details of the Work Camps:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1. <\/span><\/span><\/strong>Yoga \/ Ayurveda \/ Social (Kerala – \u00a07th<\/sup> to 27th<\/sup> November 2011)<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"214\"Camp Activities:<\/span><\/em><\/strong> Volunteers attended <\/strong>Yoga lesson every day. They also painted and cleaned garden at Special School and performed activities with kids and visually challenged children and worked on the playground.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Intercultural Learning:<\/span><\/em><\/strong> <\/span><\/strong>Volunteers visited Muthappan Temple, learnt about Indian cooking, participated in country presentation, visited snake park and Kalari Payat (Marshal Arts).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2. <\/span><\/span><\/strong>Tibetan culture\/Construction\/ Environment (Dharamsala – 7th<\/sup> to 27th<\/sup> November 2011)<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"38\"Camp Activities:<\/span><\/em><\/strong> <\/span><\/strong>Volunteers <\/strong>built 4 toilets and cleaned the playground, painted walls and participated in teaching English and dance to children and enacted a play creating awareness on ecology and environment.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Intercultural Learning:<\/span><\/em><\/strong> <\/span><\/strong>Volunteers interacted with the youth at Tibetan Youth Center and monks,\u00a0 visited Tibetan Museum, Dalai Lama\u2019s Temple, Tibetan Library, Medicine Museum, Baghsu Waterfall, Temples, Tibetan Children\u2019s Village, Norbulingka Institute and attended Tibetan cooking class.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

3. <\/span><\/span><\/strong>Sea Turtle Conservation \/ Environment (Kundapur – 14th<\/sup> to 27th<\/sup> November 2011)<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Camp Activities:<\/span><\/em><\/strong> <\/span><\/strong>The international volunteers built 3 Turtle Information Centre in three different locations, participated in Beach Awareness program and conducted poppet show in the schools.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"45\"Intercultural Learning:<\/span><\/em><\/strong> <\/span><\/strong>Volunteer visited local family and had lunch, participated in boat trip, visited light house, local festival, painted henna, learnt to wear Saree, participated in country presentation.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

4. <\/span><\/span><\/strong>Social \/ Kids (Bangalore – 5th<\/sup> to 18th<\/sup> December 2011) <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Camp Activities:<\/span><\/em><\/strong> <\/span><\/strong>Volunteers taught school children English, phonetics, drawing, games, organised drawing completion for children. They also installed 3 solar lights for slum dwellers and organised human\/child rights education for children and local community. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"54\"Intercultural Learning:<\/span><\/em><\/strong> <\/span><\/strong>Volunteers interacted\u00a0 with college students\u00a0 and community people, school children and teachers, visited Gandhi Community to by cotton cloths, visited Sacred Heart Girl\u2019s pre-school, learned Indian, wear Indian Saree, attended North Indian wedding reception and participated\u00a0 tradition Indian dance and performed country presentation. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

5. <\/span><\/span><\/strong>Heritage Conservation ( Hampi – 12th<\/sup> to 25th<\/sup> December 2011)<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Camp Activities:<\/span><\/em><\/strong> <\/span><\/strong>Volunteers participated in monument restoration activities, cleaned the temple and temple surroundings, cleaned the ponds in and around Hampi, painted the schools and did educational drawing, conducted activities for school children such as games, songs etc.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Intercultural Learning:<\/span><\/em><\/strong> <\/span><\/strong>Volunteers visited temples, Elephant Shower, learnt Indian cooking, learnt to wear Saree, participated in inter-cultural dialogue with the local community and participated in the country presentation.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
