The turtle probably got entangled in the fishermen\u2019s net and came to the beach because of the deep wounds on its neck and flippers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG-20190708-WA0011.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16825\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG-20190708-WA0018-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16826\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A huge group of people cooperated to rescue the marine creature: local people and FSL-India staff and volunteers, along with members of the \u2018Clean Kundapura Project\u2019, an active initiative for cleaning up along the Kundapura beaches. We placed the turtle in a safe and suitable tub with water and ensured the right treatment for its injuries, with the support of the veterinary doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG-20190705-WA0040-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16823\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We, FSL-India\u2019s\nlong term volunteers could sustain the people in the rescue mission; we helped in\nthe medication of the wounds and we could assist during the veterinary doctor\u2019s\nvisit, where an antibiotic was administered to avoid possible infections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG-20190705-WA0035-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16822\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We volunteers felt so useful and so proud of the people\u2019s motivation. Turtles are very important for the marine ecosystem. Indeed, this species is peaceful and harmless and its main diet of jellyfish ensures the equilibrium in our ocean. Moreover, due to the turtle\u2019s migration, this species can also carry on their shells some seaweed or small animals, encouraging the formation of new colonies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG-20190708-WA0022-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16828\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We, all\ntogether, along with the Forest Department officials, released the turtle into\nthe ocean in occasion of the Sunday\u2019s beach cleaning at Beejadi Beach.\nEverybody felt so happy while admiring the turtle swimming through the waves\ninto the ocean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG-20190708-WA0009-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16824\"\/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 5th July, FSL-India\u2019s Kundapura staff received a call from Beejadi Beach: another injured turtle was found by the local fishermen on the beach.
