Every month, we organise a cultural event for\nour regular volunteers and we take them to any cultural and historical places\nwhich are located in and around Pondicherry. This month, the Cultural Event was\nfocused on Indian Cooking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/CE-May-2019-PDY-6-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16380\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Tamil\nIndian Cooking: A typical Tamil meal consists of many spicy and non-spicy\ndishes. Many of these dishes are generally mixed and eaten with steamed rice,\nwhich is the staple food of the region. Except for Brahmins and a couple of\nnon-Brahmin castes, most Tamilians eat non-vegetarian food. However, on a\ntypical day, a Tamil family will eat mostly vegetarian food, and the intake of\nmeat is lower than in most parts of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/CE-May-2019-PDY-5-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16379\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/CE-May-2019-PDY-3-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16377\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In\nthe morning, FSL-India&#8217;s coordinator and the volunteers started their travel\nfrom the meeting point to the place of the cultural event.&nbsp; In the\nbeginning, the Coordinator explained about the activities. Then, she took 5\nvolunteers to an Indian family and prepared different dishes like Steamed Rice,\nMixed Vegetable Sambar, Poriyal, Paruppu, Rasam, Appalam, Bajji, Kesari and Thayir.
