{"id":16328,"date":"2019-06-04T10:21:38","date_gmt":"2019-06-04T04:51:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/?p=16328"},"modified":"2019-06-04T10:21:40","modified_gmt":"2019-06-04T04:51:40","slug":"social-leadership-workshop-for-bosch-coimbatore-1st-2nd-march-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/social-leadership-workshop-for-bosch-coimbatore-1st-2nd-march-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Social Leadership workshop for Bosch, Coimbatore &#8211; 1st &#038; 2nd March 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On 1<sup>st<\/sup> and 2<sup>nd<\/sup> March 2019, 20 associates of\nBosch, Coimbatore participated in a Social Leadership workshop facilitated by\nFSL-India facilitated by FSL-India\u2019s experienced trainers, Nagoor J Kani and\nMadhumathi&nbsp; Lakshmi.&nbsp;&nbsp; Most of the participants did not know each\nother at all, but by the end of the workshop, they felt like old friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Longest-Line-2-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16335\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Social Leadership Workshop is\ndesigned as an interactive workshop. The two day workshop includes a\ncombination of activities, energizing exercises, discussions and presentations\nof learning, associated value addition and commitments towards achieving social\ngoals. The workshop encourages in-depth discussions as and when necessary, and\nalso reviews and reflections after each session. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Draw-a-Leader-1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16331\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The key objectives of the Social Leadership Workshop are:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Develop an understanding of Social\nLeadership and its importance<\/li><li>To have a more engaged,\ncollaborative, networked, future oriented mindset towards society and\norganization<\/li><li>Empower SPOCs with skills and\nVolunteer facilitation tools<\/li><li>Develop social skills among all\nengaging employees, so that CSR is looked at more as PSR (Personal Social\nResponsibility)<\/li><li>To bring in a self driven\nsustainable volunteer management system<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The participants were divided into 2 teams and several activities\ncommenced. The \u2018Longest Line\u2019 was the 1<sup>st<\/sup> activity, where the teams\ncompeted to build the longest line possible, with the resources available with\nthem at the time of beginning the activity. The participants began to reflect upon their own actions and results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Line-Up-2-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16334\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The learnings brought forth by the\nparticipants were: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Try \u2013\neven if you don\u2019t succeed first<\/li><li>The importance\nof healthy competition<\/li><li>Resources\nVs Resourcefulness<\/li><li>How to\nachieve goals in spite of having limitations<\/li><li>Why stop\nat the \u2018longer\u2019 line?<\/li><li>Can a\nleader wait for others to take initiative<\/li><li>How to\nhandle \u2018being in the limelight\u2019<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Tree-Dynamic-5-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16339\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Next was \u2018Number Punch\u2019 &#8211; an activity that requires good\ncommunication skills, co-ordination and presence. It took a few trials for all the participants to understand the activity.\nThis lead them to discover a few learnings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Following\na person is easier than following a number<\/li><li>Importance\nof \u2018I\u2019 \u2013 taking responsibility<\/li><li>You are\nfollowing as well as leading, at the same time<\/li><li>Blame\ngame doesn\u2019t help<\/li><li>Clear\nchannels of communication \u2013 right to the last person is critical<\/li><li>Learning\non the go<\/li><li>Assumptions\n\u2013 how they may hinder progress<\/li><li>Silence\nor Talking \u2013 what works better?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/A-to-Z-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16329\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This was followed by \u2018Tree Dynamic\u2019 \u2013 an activity that helps the\nparticipants analyse the purpose of the social cause they have taken up, the\nroot cause of the issue, its consequences and challenges. Through the act of analysing different\nissues, the participants were able to understand the importance of looking into\nan issue, its root causes and also the consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Stealing-Island-1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16337\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018A to Z\u2019 was an activity that helps the participants build the\nvision of the cause they have taken up. The\nactivities were designed to allow the participants to have fun, while bringing\nthem closer as a team and help to strengthen the strong bonds built on Day 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Community Line\u2019 was an activity where the participants practised\nlooking within to be able to help out. An\nintense and no holds barred activity that looks to address the issue of \u2018Personal\nSocial Responsibility\u2019. The participants shared about how each of us maybe\nfocused on our own lives, our goals and aspirations \u2013 that looking around and\neven looking back, may be a challenge. The need to think beyond oneself emerged\nand set the tone of \u201cWhy Volunteering\u201d?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Community-Line-1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16330\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Bringing together of all the discussions, reflections and learning\nof the two days helped to draft a plan of action and its implementation. The\nparticipants were grouped into 4 teams \u2013 2 teams working on the theme of\nSwachcha Bharat and the other 2 on the Lake Restoration theme. Each of the\nteams brainstormed on the challengesthey\nfaced and the resources required for their respective initiatives. These\ndiscussions were presented and the questions brought up by the other teams were\nanswered and clarified. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Tree-Dynamic-9-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16340\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This was an opportunity for all the participants to give their\ninputs for the long-term goal of the initiatives, as well as the way to go\nabout achieving the same. Each of the teams established the Mission statement\nfor their respective projects and also the vision for the next 5 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the vision in place, they set about tackling the issues of Capacity\nBuilding<strong>, <\/strong>Brand Building and Community\nParticipation and discussed what action had to be taken immediately, in the\nnext 1 year and 3 years, for the vision to be achieved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Stealing-Island-2-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16338\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After half an hour of brainstorming in their teams, the participants\nhad an opportunity to move around in order to interact and discuss with the\nother 3 teams to understand their points of view. Finally, each of the teams\npresented their discussions. At the end of the world caf\u00e9, an understanding of\nhow to go about accomplishing their vision was put in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, it was wrap up time. A recap of the 2 days followed by\nsharing of thoughts by the participants and a bit of singing and dancing\nbrought down the curtains on yet another fruitful interaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Self-Intro-1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16336\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As an outcome of the Social\nLeadership Workshop, participants are able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Build the vision of the cause they\nhave taken up<\/li><li>Draft a Strategic plan of action\nwith implementation timelines<\/li><li>Explore their own Leadership\nstyles and personalities, as well as review the skills sets required to be a\nLeader<\/li><li>Analyze the purpose of the social\ncause they have taken up, the root cause of the issue, its consequences and\nchallenges<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Group-Photo-4-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16333\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>FSL-India conducts Social Leadership workshops for Corporate\ncompanies, NGOs, colleges and universities on a regular basis.
