Every month, we organise a\ncultural event for our regular volunteers and we take them to any cultural and\nhistorical places which are located in and around Kundapur. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"933\" height=\"700\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Explanation..jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14764\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Explanation..jpg 933w, https:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Explanation.-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Explanation.-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Explanation.-360x270.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 933px) 100vw, 933px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This month, the Cultural Event was mainly focused on a family function. In the morning,  FSL-India\u2019s coordinator explained about the activities and we started our travel from the meeting point to Sasthana, the cultural event place. First, we visited the temple nearby, and we were fortunate to be present at the <em>Seemantham (pregnancy)<strong> <\/strong><\/em>ceremony.&nbsp; The family welcomed us with a big smile and watermelon juice.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"http:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Temple-custody..jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14766\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Temple-custody..jpg 800w, https:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Temple-custody.-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Temple-custody.-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/fsl-india.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Temple-custody.-360x270.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After drinking\nthe delicious juice, our volunteers attended the <em>Seemantham<\/em> ceremony\nwhere the family members performed all the rituals. They were very interested\nto see the rituals. After the ceremony, one of the family members told them to\nbless the pregnant lady, after which the family members also blessed her. After\nblessing the lady, our volunteers took some photographs of the rituals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next,\nwe had a sumptuous lunch &#8211; there were about 3 different curries and even more\ndifferent vegetables, and several sweets. The food was delicious and everyone\nenjoyed it very much. Then, we left the hall and traveled back to\nKundapur. Both Nina and Francesca said it was a worthwhile program from FSL-India.\nThey enjoyed watching the Seemantham ceremony and learnt about Hindu traditions\nand ceremonies. They are looking forward to having more new cultural experiences.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Feedback from Francesca &amp; Nina<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It was a nice day and I enjoyed watching the <em>Seemantham<\/em> Ceremony <\/li><li>I have learnt about Hindu ceremony and Indian\ntradition and food was very good<\/li><li>The temple visit was amazing and the rituals\nwere so surprising<\/li><li>The family welcoming us for the program was\nreally great<\/li><li>Wishing a pregnant lady was for us, a first.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It has been a great opportunity to see how, in the Indian culture, a baby being born is celebrated. I had fun, and the food was delicious! Also, it is great to be invited to take part in the rituals.
