FSL-India has been conducting Happy Move Camps for the last 11 years at Chennia, Delhi and from last year, at Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The purpose of the HMC is to foster global leadership of volunteers through the Happy Move Program, while providing a higher quality of life to the rural communities. <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table>\n\n\n\n

The 22nd<\/sup> Happy Move Camp was conducted from 15th<\/sup>-24th<\/sup> January 2019 at Kuruvandlapalli village, close to Penakonda in Anantapur, along with volunteers from Kia Motors, South Korea and students from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along with FSL-India, the Korean volunteers conducted a family survey\u00a0for the villagers every day, and got to know about the problems faced at the village regarding water and sanitation, as well as other needs of the villagers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The community has 150 families, but no proper sanitation facilities. FSL-India conducted a survey and decided to build 4 toilets and bathrooms, with shower facilities for the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The volunteers were divided into 4 teams, led by FSL-India\u2019s team leaders. Team A was led by Nagoor Kani J, Team B by Manjula, Team C by Shalini \u00a0and Team D by Manjunath B, where each team was allocated a different activity during the work camp. The activities were rotated, so that each team had the opportunity to participate in all the activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the Government High School at the village, the FSL-India team and their volunteers constructed 2 toilets for the schoolchildren. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our South Korean volunteers painted educational murals on the classroom walls, and also on the outside of the school building.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On 15th<\/sup> and 16th<\/sup> January, the volunteers whitewashed all the walls of the Govt High School and Primary School. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

They also did the preliminary work on the community toilets in the village schools. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the 17th<\/sup>, our artists sketched the drawings for the educational paintings on the walls. 2 of the teams then worked on the educational paintings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The other 2 teams participated in the sand filtering for the toilet construction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On 18th<\/sup> and 19th<\/sup> January, the volunteers took a break from the village schools and helped to build and paint a cycle stand at ITI Boys College. They also helped to construct a gate for the college garden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the 19th<\/sup>, there was an exchange of Korean culture by the volunteers. They did a Korean dance and explained about their country to the students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the 20th<\/sup>, the volunteers continued their work on the educational paintings at the school, and the toilet construction work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On 21st<\/sup>, 22nd<\/sup> and 23rd\nJanuary the Happy Movers, along with the FSL-India team were once again divided\ninto 4 teams:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Team A worked to renovate the kitchen in the Govt High School by building shelves at 3 levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Team B worked on the plantation of shade trees at the Primary School and fixed 3 garbage bins in the school grounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Team C  completed the pipeline work was in the primary school for the new toilets. Work on the septic tank was also completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Team D completed the educational paintings and the children were very excited and motivated by them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

In the afternoons, the schoolchildren were taught a lot of creative activities and health and hygiene awareness. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was an exchange of Korean culture by the volunteers. They taught a Korean dance to the children and explained about their country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the 24th<\/sup>, the last day of the program, the closing function was held. The volunteers gave a final touchup to the educational paintings at the schools. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the afternoon, they bade farewell to the villagers by distributing Korean snacks and sweets to the children and the villagers. The children gave the volunteers flowers and applied kum-kum on their foreheads as a gesture of thanks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
