A. General
FSL-India’s objective is to send the
Indian youth for volunteer projects abroad. To reach this FSL-India
cooperates with other organizations worldwide.
FSL-India is not responsible for any damage resulting from mistakes
made by partner organizations abroad.
In case of problems the legal venue
is in Bangalore, India.
B. Matching
Organization Responsibilities
- FSL provides an exchange program putting volunteers in contact with like-minded organizations abroad and strives to match volunteers to the projects of their choice. However, FSL cannot be held responsible for the cancellation of a project due to circumstances beyond its control.
- FSL cannot guarantee that volunteers will be accepted for the project mentioned as their first choice. Volunteers must register for a minimum of 3 projects.
- FSL provides an invitation letter and supporting documents for the visa application if necessary. However, FSL cannot be held responsible for any visa refusal.
- FSL provides advice for the flight bookings, insurance and visa application.
Volunteer Responsibilities
- The application documents must be filled complete and true and submitted to FSL.
- The appropriate inscription fee must be paid to FSL for each project once the volunteer is accepted by FSL for the program.
- FSL gives notice of the acceptance of the participant after an interview in one of the FSL offices.
- Volunteers must participate in at least 2 weekend work camps or 1 work camp organized by FSL in India before going for a project abroad.
- Once a volunteer is confirmed on one of their choices by the hosting organization, any change to a new project must be done through cancellation and new application.
- All travel costs and arrangements, to and from the project, including the visa application, are the responsibility of the individual volunteer.
- Volunteers must arrive on the first day of the project and stay for its full duration.
- Volunteers are compelled to return to India immediately after their project ends. Their travel arrangements must take into account the dates mentioned on the invitation letter.
- Volunteers have to hand in a report of minimum 2 pages and fill the evaluation form for each project they have attended. The report and the evaluation form must be submitted within 2 weeks of the volunteer’s return date to India.
Selection of Applications
FSL reserves the right to select and reject applications. This decision is not contestable.
Insurance
FSL-India is not responsible for insuring volunteers during the
projects, although some partner organizations have cover for accident,
illness and third party. We strongly recommend that all volunteers take
out separate full travel insurance.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
- If the volunteer cancels his/her participation after submitting the application, FSL will refund 50% of the inscription fee. A refund of 90 % of the inscription fee will be considered in the event of a serious illness or exceptional circumstances beyond the control of the volunteer. Written proofs must be provided. FSL must be informed of the cancellation in writing one calendar month before the start date of the project.
- If the volunteer cancels his/her participation one month or less before the project start-date, FSL will not refund the inscription fee. A refund of 50% of the inscription fee will be considered only in the event of a serious illness, on receipt of a medical certificate or if he/she can prove that his/her inability to attend the project is due to circumstances beyond his/her control.
- If a confirmed project is cancelled by the Host Organization, FSL will do its utmost to find another place on an alternative project that is suitable for the volunteer. However, if no places are available, or if this arrangement is not convenient, 90% of the inscription fee will be refunded by FSL.
- If a volunteer cancels a project because of a visa refusal, FSL will refund 66% of the inscription fee. 34% will be kept as application processing fee.
