Workcamp Kundapur- January

The camp theme focused on Sustainable Agriculture/Yoga/Kids.There were total of 5 volunteers with 4 Koreans and 1 French.The main objective was to give an exposure to the volunteers about the sustainable agriculture activities at our training Centre at Shetrakatte, Kundpura.Meanwhile the volunteers learned about Yoga and other cultural aspects of India.They also took part in activities in school based on Plastic and Waste Management.

On the first day,the volunteers attended orientation and had a general idea about  their camp and Indian Environment.Our Home Based Project Team Co-ordinator Jeevan and Team Leader Mohammed Ismail described about the program schedule of the camp. From the next day,volunteers indulged in many activities in school and training centre based on waste management and sustainable agriculture.

In the school,Volunteers cleared a waste land full of plastics and created a kitchen garden along with the support of HBP Volunteers.They also made a waste water channel which will fulfill the water needs of the kitchen garden. In order to manage the kitchen waste that is generating in the Mavinakatte Primary School,volunteers constructed a compost tank of 4 x4 ft length.

In the training centre,they indulged in many activities viz.,Nursery Management,Renovation of Fruit plantation pits,weeding,mulching and planting saplings etc.,and got an exposure to organic way of farming with the low cost investment.

The Volunteers conducted a drawing competition for the school children on the theme of Environmental pollution/Agriculture and distributed prizes for the same. Through cultural visits and Indian family visit,Volunteers came to know about the Indian family system and gained exposure on Indian culture. Over all,they had a fulfillment of experiencing a wide range of activities and they brought back the memories and satisfaction to their countries.
