Using art to raise awareness
A drawing and essay competition was organized towards the end of November 2013, by the Flora and Fauna club in Kundapura, State of Karnataka, for all eco-club students. The theme ‘Water Conservation and Pollution’ asked students to explore the following areas:
– the reasons behind water pollution,
– problems and health hazards that arise due to water pollution,
– finding means of controlling the pollution
– the importance of water pollution
Drawing competitions are often a good way for us to assess how much the children have learnt and taken away from the awareness programs we have conducted. Over 100 eco-club students, teachers, education department officials, Flora and Fauna club members and FSL Staff volunteers were actively involved in the competition.
