Testimonial for the Volunteering Practice done by Ms Hannah Wild – J Stephenraj – Director, Baby Sarah’s Home, Pondicherry

Baby Sarah’s Home, a residential home for persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation, Multiple Disabilities and orphan children is highly pleased to record this testimonial for the volunteering practice done by Ms Hannah Wild from Germany, for a period of 12 months, from 8th August 2018 to 18th August 2019, through FSL India, Bangalore.

Ms Hannah provided her valuable service at our home for the orphan and destitute, children with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities by teaching, assisted in special school and trained our students in various games and recreational activities. She was involved in the daily routine activities of our home and in various recreational activities for the disabled and orphan children.

She initiated and completed an 8 path Sensory Integration Park for the welfare of children with special needs at our Sarah’s Special School, initiated a Sensory Integration Park (Beach Sand) in Baby Sarah’s Home, initiated Inclusive Planting Project at Veerampatinam Beach, where nearly 40 saplings were planted. She played a major role in our Inclusive Planting Event in a Teacher Training Institute where almost 30 saplings were planted and initiated, making success stories of beneficiaries supported by Baby Sarah’s Home in the past.

She also assisted us a lot in taking our children with special needs to the hospital during emergencies and for follow ups, involved and trained children with Special Needs in watering and protecting planted saplings, assisted in taking our Kavithai Sathya and Saranya Devi from our Girls Home to Sarah’s Special School.

She also assisted in taking our Marudhu, Vincent and Mukesh from our Boys Home to Sarah’s Special School, implemented the skill of arts and drawing to bring changes in some of our Special Needs children, assisted our Special Educators by taking our children to the beach, walking and other outdoor activities and worked for the welfare of our disabled children and helped us a lot in the functioning of the Speech Pathology Department. The functioning of our Physiotherapy Unit benefited a lot from her, she provided focused attention to our Loyala Raj, an autistic child, and to our Kavithai Sathya, a Cerebral Palsy adult, helped us in transporting beach sand and other materials from nearby places for the Sensory Integration Park.

Ms Hannah contributed a lot to the fulfillment of basic needs of all our children which helped us to function more professionally and purposefully, helped some of our dependent children to eat food, wash their hands, washing their plates and changing their clothes, involved our children with Special Needs in Sports and Painting activities, provided a few valuable suggestions for the better functioning of Baby Sarah’s Home and future volunteers, assisted us a lot in taking our children to the beach, assisted us a lot in taking our children to the movies, assisted us in painting our Home for Girls, helped our Kavithai Sathya to have her own library in Sarah’s Special School.
