LTV – Orientation- Feb 2015

In the month of February the LTV orientation was held in FSL India’s head office for five days from 02nd to 6th February 2015, in Bangalore. FSL India received 07 short Term Volunteers from 4 different countries (France, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland)

On first day of the orientation we welcomed our new batch of volunteers with great excitement. This new group of volunteers showed lot of enthusiasm in knowing our culture, our lifestyle and our food habits etc..,

During the orientation, each day evening we had organized different events for the exchange of ICL (Inter Cultural Learning). First day evening the volunteers had chance to have Henna, second day was project visit with FSL staffs, all have gone to a school called “BBMP School” there volunteers had done presentation of their each country for the School children. Third day all went to see Indian classical dance performance Baratha Natya. Apart from these learnings, volunteers also shared with FSL staff about their way of living in their country in the guest house.

Volunteer’s feedback on Orientation week:

  • The atmosphere was nice, not just between the volunteers but also in the FSL office, the energizer helped to produce a little bit fun band a friendly also.
  • Nice atmosphere between the volunteers and the FSL people.
  • Very good we were a nice group and I chat with everyone, although we are from different countries.
  • The atmosphere was very good with the volunteers and FSL people, I felt comfortable and safe.
  • Yes Of course, we got many important Information that will help us in daily life.
  • The meeting with one host mother and the trip to the governmental school were an excellent way to prepare (not just theoretically but practically)
  • Think this orientation week is an excellent preparation for a stay in India.
  • All the different sessions and the delicious lunch.
  • Hindu philosophy, cultural indicators, welcome ritual, the parts about safety are necessary to keep in the orientation
