Inauguration of Children’s Play Area at Madiwala Lake

As part of their CSR programme, Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Private Limited (RBEI) entered into an agreement with FSL India and the Karnataka Forest Department (KFD) to work on the development of Madiwala Lake and the facilities surrounding it. The Madiwala Lake project aims to involve the community and its neighbourhood in the development of the park, thereby transforming Madiwala Biodiversity Park into a replicable model.

FSL-India facilitated a stakeholders meeting on 16th February 2019, at Madiwala Lake. Participants from Bosch India, the Karnataka Forest Department (KFD), Madiwala Tank Lake Foundation (MTLF) and FSL India were asked to present their vision of an ideal park, along with a list of the beneficiaries and stakeholders of the park. At the end of the activity, a comprehensive idea of an ‘ideal park’ taking into account all their individual thoughts was generated.

One of components of the ‘ideal park’ was a Children’s Play Area, on which FSL India set to work with a lot of enthusiasm. The Children’s Play Area is funded by Bosch RBEI, as part of their CSR. The following equipments were installed in the park after constructing the boundary and fencing:

  1. Multiplay System
  2. Swings
  3. See-Saw
  4. Slider
  5. Circular Climber
  6. Minor Gym
  7. Rock N Rope

On 19th November 2019, the completed park was inaugurated by Mr Siddaramappa (Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) from KFD), Mr RK Shenoy (from Bosch RBEI), and Ms Shilpa Deodhar (CSR Head RBEI). Mr Rohan D’Souza from FSL India welcomed the guests who were present. Mr Shenoy shared his thoughts on the CSR work done by Bosch RBEI, while Ms Shilpa spoke about the long term plans for the development of Madiwala Park, and the importance of engaging the community in this process to ensure sustainability.

Mr Jacob Varkey (Member-RBEI/CSR), Mr Ashoka Kumar (RBEI), Mr Raveendra (Assistant Conservator of Forests), Mr Nizamuddin (Range Forest Officer) and representatives of Madiwala Tank Lake Foundation attended the inauguration. The DCF, Mr Siddaramappa thanked the guests for their presence and goodwill and ensured maintenance of the park by KFD.
