FSL-India Mainstream the Tent School Children

FSL-India has been running a Tent Schools in and around Kundapur under Home Based Project. Tent Schools were initiated with a view to catering to the educational needs of children from the migrant community who come to Kundapur in search of jobs and livelihood opportunities.  Many children from migrant community of Tamil Nadu working in Heskatturu village near Kundapur dropped out. However, the Tent School of FSL-India came as boon for them to continue their studies.

Afrid and Sharavana, two school dropouts were enrolled in the tent school. Earlier they studied at the local school in Tamil Nadu. They left schooling due to migration of parents to Kundapur to eke out a living from stone cutting work. When FSL-India started tent school in Heskatturu both of them were extremely happy to study at the Tent School. HBP team of FSL-India found them exceptionally good in learning. They participated actively in all scholastic activities. Having observed their progress and interests in studies, HBP team and long term volunteers discussed with their parents and convinced them to send to regular school. On 28th September Afrid and Sharavana were re-enrolled in the regular school. Now both are doing quite well in their studies. Tent school team and volunteer follow them up and keep watch their progress.
