FSL-India Celebrates ‘Global Common Action Day for Climate Justice’ on 8th August 2019

On 8th of Aug 2019, FSL-India celebrated ‘Global Common Action Day for Climate Justice’.

8th August 2019 also corresponds to the approximate Earth Overshoot Day, E which marks the date when humanity’s demand for ecological resources and services in a given year exceeds what Earth can regenerate in that year. For this reason, CCIVS (Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service) calls IVS projects all over the world to do a practical action to reduce carbon emission and contribute towards Climate Justice.

In answer to CCIVS’ call, FSL-India’s volunteers and staff, along with the local community, contributed towards Climate Justice by implementing the following activities:

  • Plantation at Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh
  • Permaculture activity, weeding, sowing seeds and Nedap composting at FSL-India’s Centre for Experiential Living, Kundapur
  • Organic Finger Millet cultivation with the local community at Ballenahalli, Mysore

FSL-India is a part of the International Voluntary Service movement, which is committed to defending our planet and its inhabitants by thinking globally and acting locally for climate justice.
