Cultural Event Report, June!

Cultural Event Report, June!

The Culture Event (CE) was held on 14th June 2016 and 2 volunteers participated in the CE.

Volunteer-India

Every month we do conduct CE for our volunteers where we take our volunteers to any cultural/historical places which is located in and around Kundapur. This month the CE was focused on an actual cultural experience.

In the morning we started our journey from the meeting point and visited Kollur Sri Mookambika temple.  Historically, Volunteer-Indiathe temple is at least 1200 years old. We spent an hour time in temple and we had lunch in temple with traditional banana leaves. After lunch we visited a temple called Elephant Indira. Then we went to Dharma Peetha which is a meditation temple. We spent some time in Dharma Peetha and enjoyed the nature. Afternoon we left from the temple and went back Kundapur where everybody could enjoy the rest of the day with a host family.

Overall we considered the event has been successful and volunteers enjoyed visiting Hindu temple.

Overall feedback from volunteers:

– I enjoyed the cultural event very much. We went to Kollur and visited the temple as well as a meditation Center.  I learned a lot more about Hinduism and Indian culture by visiting these places with someone who could explain and answer my questions. I especially liked to have lunch in the temple and the silence and peaceful atmosphere if the meditation hall. One of the highlights was the elephant of the temple. Thanks to FSL for the great visit and hope others can make the same experience.

 – It was a nice day and enjoyed seeing both temples but I think it would have been more fun if more people/volunteers could have joined us. But all in all it was a good experience
