On 15th August 2019, FSL-India celebrated India’s 73rd Independence Day at our Tent school project, with their own special ceremony. Both teachers came to Baikady to be present at this important moment. The community of Baikady helped prepare a temporary flag pole in front of the building. Various members of the community attended the ceremony including the Panchayat President. Speeches were given after the flag was raised and unfurled on high.

The teachers brought 2 big bags of sweets, which were distributed after the speeches. Luckily, there was enough for everybody even though many people including the students attended the ceremony.

A spontaneous meeting with the members of the Tent community and the Panchayat President took place afterwards, while the children played inside.

FSL-India’s team were really happy that so many participated and showed their appreciation for the project.
