Our journey began in a very traditional family. Our host parents, our 5 host brothers and the rest of the family made us feel at home there very quickly. Through them, we learned about Indian culture and we soon became a part of their family.

During the weeks, we are working in a big animal shelter with dogs, cats, horses, cows, goats, sheep, donkeys, birds and pigs. Our main tasks are horse, goat and puppy feeding, horse washing, skin care for dogs and cleaning. And, of course, depending on what is going on in the shelter, we get some different tasks every week.

Since us both love animals a lot, we really like our working place. After 3 months in our host family, we moved into the village of our animal shelter because our host family lived too far away from our project. But since we got very close to them, we stay in contact and keep visiting them.

Now, we live with a woman who adopted 80 street dogs. So we are basically around a lot of animals all day, which makes us very happy. On the weekends and holidays, we like to travel and see as much of India as we can. Overall, we are enjoying our time here a lot and looking forward to the second half of our volunteering.
