In the month of March 2019, FSL-India staff got a surprise: a sea turtle nest at Trasi, along the Kundapura shoreline. Everybody felt so happy and since the beginning, the local fishermen, as well as the community, along with the Forest Department, worked together for taking care of the nest. As the summer holidays for the government schools in India last 8 weeks, all the volunteers from FSL-India’s teaching project were sent to a summer project. During their summer project in April and May, 12 volunteers met at Varanashi Organic Farms. Our working days started with putting out the cocoa to dry and after that, different kinds of work was done. Mainly, they we cleaned the water channels in the cocoa plantations for the rainy season. 100th Monkey Starts the Journey at Mavinakatte!

On 21st June 2019, FSL-India’s 100th Monkey program reached Mavinakatte High School, at Kundapur. Over the next 8 months, FSL-India will conduct 25 1-hour sessions every week for students of 8th and 9th standard. The 100th Monkey program encourages these students to explore their potential, and creates youth who are self-aware and active citizens. This was our first session at Mavinakatte High School.
