My name is Prashanth. I am an Outbound participant of FSL-India and my project is at Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (German Red Cross). I never thought that dreams come true. 2017-18 is a wonderful year in my life. Why? Because FSL-India gave me everything what I expected in my life. So now, I am going to share my German experience and beautiful life that I am living here.
Before coming to Germany, I travelled all over India and my next destination was Germany. Actually, my work place is at Meschede in Sauerland. Sauerland is very famous for ice skating, snowboarding and other fun games.
Sauerland is a rural, hilly area spreading across most of the south-eastern part of North Rhine-Westphalia, in parts heavily forested and, apart from the major valleys, sparsely inhabited. For these reasons, it has been chosen as the first place in Germany to reintroduce the Wisent (European bison).
The Sauerland is the largest tourist region in North Rhine-Westphalia, in particular for mountain biking and cycling, water sports and scenic recreation. The town and Skiliftkarussel of Winterberg in the Hochsauerlandkreis is a major winter sport resort.
My volunteer work involves technical and physical activities. My task is to maintain the garden, manage the garbage, support to senior citizens, check the technical problems of the whole building and report to the person in charge. Sometimes, the situation arises where I have to take care of old people.
When I started my work on the first day, it was a little bit hard because I started work with managing the garbage. So when I was there as a student, I did such things. However, after completed my graduation, I never did such hard work. Then later, automatically I adjusted with my work. There my work place was completely surrounded by nature. It’s fantastic to work in the midst of nature, especially for me. And our co-workers are also very friendly and very experienced, senior colleagues. I am so happy to work with them.
I visited a lot of places, i.e. Berlin, Münster, Stuttgart, Dortmund, Frankfurt, Köln, Mannheim, Ulm (Albert Einstein’s birth place). These are all large cities I visited recently. These places are very beautiful and I can’t stop talking about them.
Apart from this, I visited small places also like Winterberg, Willingen, Bestwig, Arnsberg. At all these places, I made many new friends, from different countries. I am so happy to mention this.
Now, I have 3 or 4 months left. I am looking forward to explore more of Europe.
Finally, I thank FSL-India for providing me with a fantastic opportunity to create something on my own, learn new ideas and to achieve my dream.
