On 14th June 2018, FSL-India, Mysore team organized a Cultural Event (CE) for our regular LTV volunteers. Every month, we organize a cultural event for our regular volunteers and we take them to any cultural and historical places which are located in and around Bangalore. This month, the Cultural Event was focused on Shukavana (SGS)- Mysore.
Sri Swamiji has established Shuka Vana (Parrot Park), a rehabilitation centre for birds in the serene premises of Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Ashrama. This park has numerous rare and colourful species of parrots from the world over. Shuka Vana most importantly gives shelter to injured and uncared for birds, with a high degree of commitment and compassion. Sri Swamiji has taken a serious resolve to take care of physically challenged birds that are not receiving proper care with their owners who have lost interest in them.
In the morning, FSL-India’s team and the volunteers started their travel from the meeting point to the place of the cultural event. In the beginning, the Coordinator explained about the activities. Then, we took the 2 volunteers to the Shukavana (SGS). Both volunteer and coordinator visited variety of parrot and enjoy the nature in Shukavana.
After the visit, the FSL-India coordinator and the volunteers had lunch at a local restaurant and discussed about their experience in the host family and project.
