On Friday, the 12th of January 2018, The S.C.V. English Medium School had their 7th Annual Day in Hunsur, Karnataka, India. We, Paul and Julian from Germany, were happy to participate in this event as this is our project’s most important day.
The children, as well as the teachers, prepared their dances and speeches almost a month before it took place. The week before the annual day, everyone was talking about it and got excited. On the Annual Day, we came very early to prepare and decorate the school. We had some great food from the cook and then waited until the expected 500 guests gathered up and started with the program.
Our two teachers had led through the evening by anchoring very confidently. First, there were a lot of speeches and honorifics. At this point, we both did a bilingual speech in English and Kannada. After that, all of the students started to show their dances. We were impressed how much the students learned within a month of dance practice. After the dances, the Annual Day celebrations came to an end. At 10 o’clock, everyone was leaving and going back to their homes.
We had a great time on the annual day. The students, the headmaster, the teachers and the staff were really happy that everything went well. We had a great time and hope that we can also participate in the next annual day!
