What could be more fun and more stressful than taking care of children every day in a Tent school?
I think of it as a day the Tent community children deserve and need the most. A day in which they can just be kids being kids, instead of having to take over family and household responsibilities like watching their younger siblings, cooking, washing, cleaning etc. Creating a full day celebration just for them being the heartful energy bundles they are, is exactly what they need.
On 14th November, the children from my co-volunteer’s Tent School in Yedthady as well as our sponsors, donors, FSL-India staff and local Panchayat leaders were invited to join the celebration of Children’s Day at Baikadi tent community.
We were very thankful to hear the very kind and very motivating words of SELCO India, SELCO Foundation, the local Panchayat leaders and local donors. Between the speeches, it was the children’s stage – Bollywood dance. If any of the non-Indian readers are sceptical of Bollywood dancing, we had a ton of fun! Followed by this, we gave prizes to the game championship winners.
Next, we officially inaugurated the solar lights for the toilets and the street light that were installed through the help of SELCO and fundraising from Spain by the name of ‘Recogida de fondos por India’. Also, sweets made our mouths satisfied. Overall, it was a very memorable celebration day with the kids.
