On Tuesday, 7th of November, students from the Psychology Department of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) College, Ujjire visited FSL-India’s Centre for Experiential Living, Shettrakatte to learn more about the organisation. As a part of their program, the students learn about different NGOs and therefore decided to visit FSL-India.
To warm up, the students and volunteers got together to participate in some energizers.
Afterwards, the students attended the FSL-India LTV and HBP presentations. The coordinators explained about FSL-India’s program and that it is a non- political and non- profit, voluntary organization.
In the presentation, the students learned about our volunteerism program and were informed by Gajendra about the motivational background of our volunteers to participate in voluntary service, as well as the intercultural exchange. Likewise, the students were also given basic information about the “behind the scenes” work at an NGO.
The students received information about the financial support of the volunteers and the work with foreign governments. They also learned about our motivation for an intercultural exchange and community living.
After a short chai break, the group took a walk around the premises to have a look at FSL-India’s agricultural work and to have an overview of the different activities carried out at CEL.
It was a pleasure to host the students from SDM College, Ujjire and we hope this will be a regular practice.
