I am proud to be a part of the wave of feminism and enthusiastically joined the team of FSL-India, who organised a workshop on women rights at Vandse PU College, Kundapur, on 30th June 2017.
The workshop was successfully carried out with the guidance of FSL-India team leader Manjesh, and the team members Ujwal, Vikas, Suchi Mishra (Law students from Delhi), Amrutha (MBA in CSR from Mysore) and Felix (volunteer at FSL-India from Germany).
The objective of the workshop was to educate teenagers about women rights that would lead men to “respect and protect women”, women “to know and positively utilise their rights” and an inclusive attitude should be adopted in the society to protect the dignity of women. 50 teenagers were addressed in the presence of the Vandse PU College Principal.
During the session, information about gender equality, special provision for women, equality for employment and pay, rights to ensure sustainability and opportunity, rights for protection, rights against dowry and domestic violence, rights against rape, harassment, kidnapping and abduction, right to anonymity etc., was conveyed to the students in English and as well as the local language Kannada, with the help of charts, and related examples so that students are sensitized in this regard.
The success of the workshop was indicated by the feedback of students and the Principal.
