Summer is the time for children to refresh themselves, to know new things, to enjoy the holidays. Every year FSL-India organizes summer camps in schools but for the first time FSL-India organized Summer camp at Shetrakatte training centre from 26th to 30th April – 2016
For training centre surrounding children to explore their talent and also to create agriculture interest among the students. FSL India wanted to give opportunity to the local children to explore themselves and learn new skills which helps in their future life.
Summer camp was inaugurated by children color handprinting tothe cloth. The inagural speech by Mr. K.P Bhat ex-president of Rotary club South Kundpaur and he addressed and stressed the need for extending learning beyond the four walls of the classroom. He said children are the future of the nation and this kind of summer camps helps to build teamwork, cooperation, leadership and individuality amongst students. Mr. Banavalikar Mr. Basava Bhandary, Mr. Jeevan, FSL-India staff, volunteer were presented on the occasion of inaguration.
During the camp around 65 children were participated in the 35 above 10 years and 30 children are below 10 years old.
The camps aims to bring out the the creative talent in children, to get knowledge and interest about agriculture activities, to explore children’s own talent and skill about street play, to learn about local birds and its specialty, learning local games, knowing about nursery activities. During the camp children actively participated, enjoyed the different activities and it also helped us to build good rapport with community.
On the last day of the summer had an valedictory program, we have distributed prizes for art of waste, drawing competition, cook without fire, winners and also certificates for the children which was prepared by children. During the program Mr. K.P Bhat (ex-president of Rotary club South Kundapur), Mr. Basava Bhandary (FSL-India Accountant), FSL-India staff, volunteers, MSW students of Tenkanedeyru college, FSL-India Intern participated.
Summer camp provided a happy and engaging experience to refresh the children during vacation.
