Youth Day in India is celebrated which is takes place on January 12, on the birthday of Swami Vivekananda. In 1984, the Government of India declared and decided to observe the Birthday of Swami Vivekananda as National Youth Day every year from 1985 onwards. To quote from the Government of India’s Communication, “ It was felt that the philosophy of Swamiji and the ideals for which he lived and worked could be a great source of inspiration for the Indian Youth.”
On 12th January FSL-India’s Kundapur team celebrated National Youth day with collaboration of Government higher primary school Mavinkatte, Rotary club Tallur. 132 children, around 50 parents, locals, Rotary Club member, FSL-India Volunteers & staff were been participated.
The program begin with rally by saying environmental protection slogans and went around the Mavinkatte village to spread awareness on Environment issues during this youth day. The purpose of the rally is to spread awareness, particularly among children, community. Later collected non-degradable waste like plastics, glass in the school campus with children, parents, locals and FSL-India volunteers & staff.
As a youth day celebration Mavinkatte school HM had given speech on importance of the youth day and children also had speeches on youth day. After Mr. Jeevan gave session about waste management session which to be implemented in Community, he also explained about FSL-India intervention. Community people and children interacted during session and ensure that they will nature by practicing environmental friendly systems.
This is one of the result oriented program in the community from FSL-India Kundapur. All participants felt happy and agreed to give support for our interventions in future.
